A smooth and fruity Malbec from California
I love bold, punchy red wine. Especially Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Malbec’s. I recently opened this 2010 Malbec from California. Normally the malbec’s I have had in the past have more structure and body. This one was soft and smooth.
I think if I let it sit for a while to aerate it would open up and become more complex, as malbec’s tend to be. Complex.
This California malbec had notes of currant, licorice and berries with smooth tannins. I have never had any wines from the Red Rock Winery before. This brand in particular was recommended to me by the wine steward at my local grocery store.
I will buy this one again but maybe store it for a year.
Here are the notes on this Malbec:
Alcohol level: 13.6%
Unofficial Andrea’s Vista Score: 6 out of 10
