2013 Diseño Red Blend is an intense and vibrant blend.
You may already know that I am a big fan of South American wines. Malbec’s come from South America, and I love malbec’s!
Since my hubby enjoys red blends, I decided to try this blend by Constellation Imports, which also makes a fine malbec. When it comes to red blends, I find that they tend to be on the sweeter side. This one doesn’t follow that trend, possibly because it’s aged in oak. I found that on the nose I could pick up berry and some smokiness. I tasted cocoa and vanilla along with blackberry on the finish. A long toasty aftertaste with smooth tannins rounded out the sip.
The color in the glass was a dark, velvety, ruby red. I enjoyed the soft, toasty oak and I appreciated that this blend was on the drier side with lots of bold flavors powering through.
Here are the particulars on this one!
